Troy Davis writes:
Oral Roberts (1918-2009) was one of the godfathers of the Prosperity Gospel of the 20th century (i.e., God wants you to be healthy and wealthy). This 96-page booklet is the essence of Roberts' "seed-faith" message: tithe money to Roberts and you plant the seed for your miracle from God. At the end of the booklet is a page intended to be torn out and sent to Roberts' ministry; in it is the message, "I intend to pray for my project often and to plant a seed for $_______ in this seedbed each month. I'll be telling others about this opportunity and about the goodness of God."
Seed-faith theology worked well for Roberts: he had homes in Beverly Hills and Palm Springs and three Mercedes.
